Midwifery antenatal and postnatal consultations
During pregnancy and in the first few weeks after your baby is born you may feel the need for extra support and reassurance. From tailored packages which ensure continuity of care, to one-off consultation aimed to answer all your questions and empower you through a positive pregnancy and parenthood experience.
Only for antenatal or postnatal (up to 6 weeks after the birth of your baby/ies) support, not for standalone lactation consultations.
The session includes: Parent and baby well-being assessment, Optimal nutrition discussion, Blood pressure check, Rapid urine test, Birth choices discussion, Postnatal debrief, Newborn’s weight check and measurements, Baby care, First bath, How to recognise and treat common infants’ health issues
Antenatal GBS (Group B Streptococcus infection) vaginal + rectal swabs, and Blood tests (including Harmony® Prenatal Test) are available upon request. Extra charges apply

Tongue-tie consultations and treatment
Sometimes babies may find it difficult to breast/chest or bottle feed. Often adjustments to latch and positioning can help resolve the issue, but in certain cases you and your babies would still struggle. This can be caused by a tongue-tie, which is the restriction of the tongue movements, due to a short and tight lingual frenulum (the “string” some of us have under their tongue).
Your Midwife will support you in assessing tongue mobility, oral function, and if necessary treat your baby’s tongue-tie with a quick surgical procedure.
Your baby will be treated if:
they are aged 7 days to 6 months (extenuating circumstances can be considered)
the tongue-tie is affecting feeding
they have received vitamin K injection at birth or at least 2 doses of oral Vitamin K
there are no underlying medical conditions, and no history/family history of bleeding disorders
they are fit and well during the consultation
they have no oral abnormalities that could obstruct direct vision of the lingual frenulum
in case they are born premature, they are in good health and are establishing feeding at home.
The session includes: Taking your antenatal, postnatal and parental health history; Full oral and physical assessment of your baby to rule out any muscular tension/restriction; Demonstration of mouth and tongue exercises to teach your baby how to increase the range of movement of their tongue before and after the procedure; Infant feeding support and relevant feeding plan; Surgical treatment of a tongue-tie (frenulotomy) and/or suggestions on non-surgical alternatives if you don’t feel ready to consent for surgery. Referral to other practitioners, such as paediatric osteopaths or other specialists will be also discussed if necessary.

“A Family is Born” birth and baby preparation classes
Looking for great antenatal classes in London? Our bespoke course is the perfect occasion to meet other parents to be, share your experiences and your thoughts, empower yourselves and get ready for your baby!
We will discuss the physiological changes during your pregnancy and how your baby is growing, what to expect, how to pack your hospital bag, how to approach labour and birth with a positive mindset, and how to deal with a newborn and the changes in the family dynamics.
The package includes: 6 sessions of the duration of 1.5 hours each. Participation is recommended from 20 weeks of pregnancy onwards. A minimum of 2 families will be required in order to start the group course.

1:1 course: £400 online, £600 at home
1:1 single 90 minute class: £90 online, £120 at home

Lactation consultations
Breast/chest milk represents the optimal nutrition for your baby and it’s made to meet their needs from the very first day of life. However breast/chest feeding not always has a smooth start, so it becomes important to ensure you are supported and listened to by a highly qualified professional. Your Midwife will be there every step of the way to help you achieve your breast/chest feeding goals and explore all the alternatives, to help you make an informed decision also when it comes to mix feeding or exclusive bottle feeding.
The session includes: Antenatal/postnatal breast/chest assessment, Antenatal/postnatal breast/chest feeding education, Breast/chest feeding assessment and discussion of concerns, Neonatal examination and weight check, Support with positioning and attachment, Discussion of strategies to increase/maintain milk supply, Support with the use of supplemental nutrition devices, support and advice for mix/formula feeding and correct use of bottles and alternative feeding methods.

Introduction to solid foods group workshop
During this course, you will learn how to help your baby discover and enjoy the texture and flavours of the different foods without stress. This group session will allow you to share your experience, questions and worries with other parents and Your Midwife will shed some light on some “baby food” myths.
The session includes: Explanation of the baby led introduction to solid food (BLISS), Safe food preparation and storage, What foods to introduce, How to manage expectations, Recipes and meal ideas. A minimum of 3 families will be required in order to start the group course.
